The Virginia Police Benevolent Association today announced its endorsement of Republican Glenn Youngkin for governor, after Democratic Party candidate Terry McAuliffe and his ticket mates Haya Ayala and Mark Herring declined to interview for endorsements.

“Glenn Youngkin has demonstrated a deep understanding of the complex issues facing law enforcement in the Commonwealth today,” said Virginia Police Benevolent Association President Joe Woloszyn. “We believe Mr. Youngkin is uniquely placed to promote our common goal of professionalism and increasing public safety and confidence. It is with great pride that our Board of Directors announces our support for Glenn Youngkin for the post of Governor of Virginia.

The VPBA had invited all three candidates on every statewide ticket for interviews last week, and GOP candidates Youngkin, Jason Miyares and Winsome Sears all showed up for the June 24 interviews.

None of the Democratic candidates were present.

The association boasts that it has always supported candidates from both parties, and in 2013 it backed Herring when he first ran for attorney general.

However, the endorsements lean heavily towards Republicans – Ken Cuccinelli and EW Jackson got them in 2013, and Ed Gillespie and John Adams got the endorsements in 2017.

Not to mention that the Southern States Police Benevolent Association, of which the VPBA is a member, supported Donald Trump as president in 2020.

Yes.

“I couldn’t be more proud to have the support of the Virginia men and women in blue,” Youngkin said. “Recently, we’ve seen efforts to cut police funding, remove important legal protections from law enforcement, and even reduce the sentence for assaulting an officer. It’s a shame, and these efforts would make Virginia less safe at a time when its murder rate is the highest in more than 20 years.

“This approval sends a powerful message to Terry McAuliffe and to all those who turn their backs on the police: Virginians want a governor who will prioritize public safety instead of demoralizing and funding law enforcement,” Youngkin said. “I am very grateful to the Virginia Police Benevolent Association, and look forward to working with them when I serve as governor to make Virginia the best place in America for everyone to live, work, and raise a family. We will create a brighter day and a better future for all. “

By the way, this quote from Youngkin is from a press release from the VPBA.

They were not going to endorse a Democrat this cycle.

They will never support a Democrat again.

Keep all of this in mind if you have a Biden sticker on the back of your car and drive a few miles per hour over the speed limit.
