Rayne teenager receives recognition for good deeds in the community

Acadia Parish teenager gets good recognition for his good deeds. Last week, Rayne PD gave Norris Guidry a “ticket” – not for speeding, but for a free snoball. Now he’s getting more with the help of a non-profit organization.
Guidry caught the attention of an organization, Raising Men and Women Lawn Care Services, which rewards children for mowing lawns for those in the community who wouldn’t be able to do it themselves.
The organization calls it the 50-meter challenge.
âThe 50-meter challenge is basically a challenge we gave kids across the country and around the world to mow 50 free lawns in the community for seniors, people with disabilities, single parents and veterans. So let’s say that a kid here accepted has offered the challenge, they’ll make a sign saying I’ve accepted the 50-yard challenge, âsays Rodney Smith, Jr., owner of Raising Men and Women Lawn Care Service.
The non-profit organization recognized Norris as an honorary member and gifted him with new equipment such as a new lawn mower, weed killer, blower and new equipment.
Norris says he appreciates the new gear and gear, but ultimately hopes to inspire others to do good deeds.
âI have a lot of family members who are elderly and disabled, so I started mowing their lawns for free and everything. And then I just wanted to go around and start doing it for other people, instead. to do it for my family.
My inspirational post would be, don’t give up, if you try and if you want to go do something, never give up or anything. Go ahead, âsays Norris.
